Purpose
This article explains how to download your workspace data, what happens when you delete your account, and how Grantable ensures your files remain secure and accessible throughout the process.
💡 Grantable is designed around data ownership — your organization’s content always belongs to you.
Exporting Your Data
You can export documents, files, and organizational records individually or in bulk.
Exporting a Single Document
From any open document, click the three dots menu (…) in the top-right corner.
Select Export to .docx.
The file will download in Microsoft Word format, preserving structure and formatting.

Closing Your Account
To permanently delete your organization’s data:
Go to Settings → Organization.
In the General tab at the bottom, click Delete organization.
Confirm the deletion request when prompted.

Once confirmed:
All workspace data (documents, files, records, and settings) enters a short retention window.
After this window, data is permanently deleted from active systems and then purged from encrypted backups according to our SOC 2 Type 2 retention policy.
💡 Account closure is irreversible. Be sure to export any content you wish to keep before proceeding.
What Happens After Deletion
Your organization’s workspace and all user accounts tied to it are deactivated.
All files, documents, and records are removed from the system.
Subscription billing is automatically canceled.
A confirmation email will be sent once data deletion is complete.
💡 Grantable cannot recover deleted content once this process finishes.
Need Help Before Leaving?
If you’re leaving due to feature needs, budget, or workflow changes, we’d love to hear your feedback.
Contact [email protected] — our team can help you export efficiently or explore ways to preserve your data until you’re ready to return.
💡 Many organizations temporarily pause or downsize plans rather than fully delete — ask support about this option if you want to retain access later.
✅ Key takeaway: You always retain ownership of your data in Grantable. You can export files and documents anytime, and closing your account permanently deletes all workspace data under SOC 2 Type 2 standards. Export before deleting to keep your records safe for future reference.
