The AI Settings Panel lets you control how Grantable’s AI thinks — choosing which sources it can reference, what style it follows, and whether it can conduct online research.

What the AI Settings Panel Does

From the Document Editor, click the ⚙️ Settings button in the chat box to open the AI Settings Panel.
This panel controls how the AI Assistant gathers and uses information while writing.
You can toggle each setting on or off to define the boundaries of its knowledge and behavior.

💡 Think of this panel as the “control center” for how the AI reasons with your content.

The Four AI Settings

1. Use Organization Profile

When turned on, the AI can reference your Organization Profile — factual, enduring data like your name, EIN, mission statement, and contact info.
When turned off, the AI won’t access this information.

💡 The Organization Profile layer is read-only: the AI can reference it but never rewrite or reinterpret it. This ensures consistent, unchanging factual data across all drafts.

2. Follow Style Guide

When turned on, the AI applies your Style Guide rules (active tone, structure, clarity, etc.) to shape the language and voice of its responses.
When turned off, the AI ignores your style preferences and writes in a neutral, general tone.

💡 Use this toggle when switching between branded organizational writing and neutral drafts for funder research, summaries, or notes.

3. Search Workspace

When turned on, the AI can scan across your organization’s workspace — including files, documents, and notes — to find relevant internal context.
When turned off, the AI relies only on directly attached sources (e.g., files or documents linked via the @ or paperclip icons).

💡 Enable this when you want the AI to recall related materials automatically, or disable it for strict, citation-based drafting.

4. Research Online (Pro Feature)

When turned on, the AI can search the web for up-to-date, reputable information and automatically cite its sources.
When turned off, it writes only from your organization’s internal data.

💡 This feature is ideal for incorporating statistics, evidence, or background research from trusted external sources while maintaining citations.

Combining Settings

You can mix and match settings to fit your workflow:

ScenarioRecommended Settings

Drafting a proposal with your real data

✅ Use Organization Profile, ✅ Follow Style Guide, ✅ Search Workspace

Writing a neutral summary or template

❌ Use Organization Profile, ✅ Follow Style Guide, ❌ Research Online

Conducting external research or background writing

❌ Use Organization Profile, ❌ Follow Style Guide, ✅ Research Online

Reviewing or refining existing content

✅ Use Organization Profile, ✅ Follow Style Guide, ❌ Research Online

💡 Each toggle acts independently — you’re always in control of what the AI can access or prioritize.

Key takeaway: The AI Settings Panel puts you in charge of how Grantable thinks. Toggle these options to decide what the AI should reference, how it should write, and whether it should look beyond your workspace — ensuring every draft balances context, creativity, and control.
