Grant proposals often contain overwhelming amounts of text. Sometimes it can be helpful to have your AI assistant bring your focus to the next action item that needs your attention. We've created this beta feature to help with this situation. Here's how it works.

Open a new grant application

Upload or paste grant application materials into blank file. Once the entirety of the application is viewable in the editor, you can try using the Next up assistant to automatically locate an action item in the application.

Searching from the cursor

The Next up assistant looks for the next action item proceeding from the location of your cursor on the page.

Place the cursor where you would like the assistant to begin searching and click the button in the toolbar.

The assistant will highlight the next suggested action item.

Once highlighted you have several options for how to proceed depending on the action item.

One-shot response

In some cases, especially when the action item is relatively simple, you can choose to have your AI assistant make its best attempt at completing the task using the source material in the active content palette.

Click Respond to prompt to have your AI attempt this one-shot response.

Instruct the AI assistant

You may also choose to manually instruct your AI assistant by clicking on the AI sparkle icon in the floating bubble menu.

Create a task

In some cases the assistant will identify a task that does not require writing, but is good to remember as an important to-do item.

Click the Create Task feature to turn the highlighted text into a task, which is displayed with a status in the table of contents.

Discard suggested action item

Sometimes the AI will highlight something you don't consider important. To discard a highlight, simply click outside of the highlight and move the cursor beyond that section of the document.

If you'd like to try again, you can click the Next up assistant again to see what it will find next.
