Overview

Grantable is purpose-built to help you leverage AI in your grant-seeking work. There are three main concepts to understand in order to get started:

  1. Creating Applications

  2. Adding source material to Applications

  3. Highlighting text to engage AI

1. Creating Grant projects

Creating a Grant in Grantable an important step because it establishes a project container that allows us to create relationships between application documents and source materials.

Navigate to your home screen. Click the Grants option in the left side menu.

Click the green New Grant button in the upper right corner of the screen

Give your Grant project a name

Choose a descriptive name for this Grant.

Add application documents

When you first arrive in your Grant workspace, you will need to add the application documents you wish to work on. These can be instructional materials and the application questions to be answered.

You have two options for adding these materials:

1. Blank document (Best for copy and paste)

If the grant application materials are not available as a file for upload, navigate to their location, such as on a website or within an application portal.

Copy the application questions and supplemental content and paste it onto the blank page as in the image above.

2. Upload document (Best for application files)

If the grant application materials you wish to work on have been provided to you as files, you can upload them to your Grant project.

Select the application files you wish to upload and proceed with uploading. Your documents will appear as separate files in the left navigation area under the Documents section.

2. Adding source material to Grant projects

After adding your application materials, it is time to associate source materials with the application.

Locate and click the + Add button in the lower section of the left-side application tray.

You will see three options for adding source materials to this Grant project.

Adding source material from your content library

To add source material that is already in your account, choose the Search Content option.

Begin typing the name of a source document into the search field until you see the document you are looking for.

Click the checkbox next to each document you wish to attach to the application.

Uploading source material

To upload source material, click the Upload Files option, and select the files you wish to attach to the application.

Adding source material from Google Drive

For users who store content in Google Drive and wish to import it directly to Grantable, choose the Add from Google Drive option.

Proceed through a series of authorization and account authentication steps, provide the necessary permissions and select the files from your Google Drive account that you wish to import.

After adding source material, you'll see the total quantity of source material associated with the Grant project in the same lower section of the left-side application tray.

💡 Pro tip: The progress meter shows how much of your AI context window is being utilized. More efficient usage of source material will lead to higher quality outputs.

Once you have added source material using any of these methods, you will be ready to begin utilizing your AI features.

3. Highlighting text to engage AI

Highlight text on the page to reveal your AI toolbar

AI Toolbar

Auto-complete

This is a one-click quick response feature that will give you Grantable's best shot a drafting a response without any additional guidance from you.

It will use what it believes are the most relevant parts of the source material you've provided to draft an appropriate response.

AI

This button will open your AI controls and allows you to input specific instructions for your AI to follow.

Create Selection

This feature will bookmark the highlighted selection and add it to the document outline to make navigation of long documents easier. You can click on the selection in the outline which will scroll to the section.

Text Formatting, Highlighting, Word & Character Count

You can also format and highlight text as well as quickly see the number of words and characters in the highlighted text.

How to generate content using AI

Ideally, locate a question or prompt in the application that requests a narrative response. Good examples might be requests for an organizational or program summary.

Highlight the text of the question or prompt and click Auto-complete or open the AI controls and instruct the assistant as you like.

This will generate an output using the source materials attached to this Grant project.

How to manage application source materials

You have several options that allow you to control what source material is being used by the AI assistant to generate content.

Click the Sources area to view your source material.

Active sources will appear blue with a checked box. You can click sources to unselect them so the AI will not reference them when generating content. Clicking unselected sources will reselect them.

If you need to add more sources to the Application, either from your account or by uploading them, click the Manage Sources button.

If you need to add source material, click the + Add buttons.

💡 Key Concept: The more precisely you provide source material to the AI assistant, the more likely you are to receive desired outputs.

How to add AI-generated text to the page

Once you've created an AI-generated output you are happy with, you need to add it to the page you're working on.

To add the text just below the highlight selection you're working on, click the Insert below button at the bottom of the AI control panel.

If you are using the AI assistant to refine a selection of text, rather than responding to a prompt, you can click the Replace selection option to overwrite the selected text with the generated text.

You may also exit the AI control panel by clicking the Discard option.

🚨 Caution: AI outputs must be added to the page in order to be saved. Outputs that remain in the AI control panel will not persist after exiting.
